2024 Spring & Summer 16U/18U/Junior Skills Sessions

For the spring and summer of 2024, Eagle Hockey Development will again be running player development sessions at the Eagle River Sports Arena. Our goal is to provide players with an opportunity to drill down on the individual skills needed to be successful at higher levels of play. Sessions will be lead by the EHD and Blizzard's coaching staff, and will focus on the following core skills:

-Skating and agility

-Puck control and passing

-Shooting and scoring habits

Eligible to players with 2009-2003 birth years

  • Structured as a practice/developmental option for players seeking to continue honing their skills.

  •   Seasons will run from the end of March/begining of April through the end of May.

  • Practices and Player Development Sessions will primarily be held in Eagle River. Possibility of occassional sessions near Houghton, MI.

  •   Highly experienced and dedicated coaching staff

  • $350 developmental practice player program cost

  • $25 tryout fee for new skaters. Tryout date/time TBD. Accepted skaters will have their tryout fee applied to the overall program fees.

Xcel Hockey Development provides players with a superior teaching model allows students to learn skills and improve their game. Their program is known for providing an intense and disciplined learning environment. Xcel will be partnering with us in formulating high-tempo age appropriate skills sessions for our players.

Instructor Marcie Kierpiec is a Level 4 coach through USA Hockey with 34 years of coaching experience. Marcie has vast experience working with hockey players of all ages within the state of Michigan and Northern Wisconsin. She is the lead skating instructor for the Michigan High School Hockey Excellence program, the U18 & U16 Compuware AAA and the U14 Honey Baked AAA teams in Plymouth, MI. She is also the off-ice strength coach for these teams. Marcie holds a degree in Exercise Science with a focus on Strength and Conditioning which included an internship with USA Hockey's National Team Development Program in Plymouth, MI. While doing her internship, she worked with both the U18 and U17 teams during their off-ice training sessions, as well as on ice with the U17 team by assisting their regular power skating instructor.
