Windigo NAPHL Prospect Challenge & Fall League 2024

2024 SPRING PROSPECT CHALLENGE MAY 17-19

The NAHL Prospects Challenge is a showcase that takes place during the NAHL's Robertson Cup National Championship in Blaine, MN. Teams play a three-game round robin format with top teams advancing and remaining teams playing a consolation game on Sunday. This weekend will be one of the most highly scouted opportunities available for prospective NAHL & NA3HL players seeking to play junior hockey in the 2023/24 season. As a mandatory scouting event for the NAHL, this weekend has over the years continued to expand both in terms of teams participating and the level of play.  Our 18U rosters have consistently featured players who have gone on to play in the NAHL the following fall season. 

Team will be coached by Windigo (NAHL) and West Bend Power (NA3HL) coaches and scouting staff. Teams will have an initial tryout/minicamp weekend in Eagle River on April 5th and 6th, and once the team is finalized, will have two scheduled practice days in April/May prior to the tournament weekend. Times and Dates of the practices TBD. Tournament rosters will be a combination of minicamp attendees and scouted/referred Windigo prospects.

New for this season, the Wisconsin Windigo will be partnering with the Milwaukee Power of the NA3HL to field 16U/18U teams in the NAPHL fall league. The 16U program will be run out of the UP and Northern Wisconsin, and the 18U program will be run by the Power out of Southern Wisconsin.

16U information:

Unless noted otherwise, 16U practices will be in Eagle River, central time zone. 16U Practices at SDC in Houghton are Eastern time. Practices before Labor Day will be on Tuesday nights. After labor day we will practice on Saturday afternoons and evenings to avoid conflicts with High school sports. Our first showcase weekend also starts on a Saturday so my hope is there will only be a day or two where we have conflicts with Friday night football.

Practices on Sat. September 23, September 30, and Oct. 7 will occur prior to the scheduled NAHL games on those respective evenings, and players will receive free admission to those games. We may seek to schedule a game or two on these dates if possible. 

This season we are working to try and keep our costs for our area players, and the overall program cost will be $900 for the 16U level.  We will be filling the 16U roster through a combination of returners from our spring prospect challenge team, scouting network referrals, and practice skate tryout opportunities. Practice only opportunities will be afforded on a case by case basis, inquire for more information.
